The 21st Graduation Day of Shanmuganathan Engineering College, Arasampatti near Thirumayam, was held on 01-08-2026.
College Principal Dr. KL. Muthuramu welcomed the gathering. Correspondent Dr. Pichappa Manikandan inaugurated the event, while Director (Administration ) M. Pichappa delivered the presidential address. First-Year Coordinator Dr.N.Vennila introduced the chief guest to the audience.
Dr. G. Aghila, Director of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Tiruchirappalli, attended as the chief guest, delivered the graduation address, and distributed the degree certificates.
Addressing the graduates, Dr. G. Aghila emphasized: "Beyond securing marks, it is crucial for every student to hone their unique personal skills. The modern world actively seeks skilled individuals. Innovative thinking and new inventions are the need of the hour. The younger generation should aim to become job creators rather than job seekers. It is our collective responsibility to transform our developing nation, which is deeply rooted in rural areas, into a fully developed country."
She further highlighted the rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence (AI), urging students to channel it appropriately for the advancement of humanity.
"Learning has no full stop; continue learning throughout your life. Technology-driven knowledge will lead the future world," she noted, adding that scientific advancements and innovations must reach the last person in society. "Our nation will achieve complete development only when we strengthen key sectors like agriculture and rural development. No matter how high our educational qualifications are, we must protect and uphold our moral values, culture, and rich heritage to build an enhanced society."
A total of 91 undergraduate students from the departments of Civil, Mechanical, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering received their degree certificates during the ceremony.
Cash prizes were awarded to college toppers: Abirami (Computer Science) secured first place, and Thenmozhi (Civil Engineering) placed second, alongside top department performers.
College Secretary M. Viswanathan, Dean of Academics Dr.Murugappan, Academic Dean faculty members, students, and parents attended the ceremony.
